The emblematic Unico caliber HUB1242 that the original model was equipped with has evolved to become the new caliber HUB1280, the heart of this fantastic watch. A thinner design to fit into the 42 mm case. It still retains the bidirectional self-winding chronograph mechanism and its column wheel visible from the dial. However, thanks to the removal of the exhaust module support and the introduction of a new, flatter automatic loading system, it has lost 1.3 mm in thickness (without altering its diameter, which remains 30 mm).
To assemble all its components in a smaller box, the structure and design of theHublot Big Bang Unico 42 mmThey have been reconfigured to offer optimal visibility and greater ease of assembly. Major technical innovations have been necessary that have led to four new patents, among which an oscillating seconds clutch or a ball-adjustable chronographic friction system stand out. Furthermore, the number of components has increased from 330 to 354 pieces, and the new caliber contains 43 jewels compared to the 38 of its predecessor. The Pellaton type automatic loading system has been replaced by a double ball inverter. HOWEVER, the power reserve remains unchanged (72 hours).
