In its long history in creating diving watches, Oris surprises us again with a new edition of theDivers Sixty-Five, but in this case it gives elegance and exclusivity to diving with a distinguished stylevintage.
Its 42 mm diameter and two different straps, in leather and Nato textile, offer an original set of possibilities. Just like himDivers Sixty-FiveLaunched in 2015, the new watch is a worthy descendant of the first diving watches presented by Oris in 1965. In the 1960s, diving was a pioneering sport led by names such as Jaques Cousteau, Hans Hass and Christian J. Lambertsen, with Oris being one of the main manufacturers of diving watches.
The original aesthetics of the newDivers Sixty-FiveIt has been carefully updated, maintaining many retro details, such as the slim line of the case, the narrow bezel with 60-minute scale and the trapezoidal date window. At the same time, this model has all the advances of a 21st century diving watch. The black aluminum-coated bezel is unidirectional, the domed crystal has been created in sapphire with anti-reflective treatment on the inside, and the hour and minute markers are treated with Super-LumiNova® instead of the tritium used in the 1960s. Inside a multi-piece steel case beats a Swiss Made automatic movement.
For the first time,Divers Sixty-FiveIt features a dark blue curved dial, contrasting with vintage-tone Super-LumiNova®. Also new are the leather straps with rubber lining and the NATO textile straps that give the watch a more vintage aesthetic. Both join the existing versions in black rubber and steel bracelet. The background is engraved with the historic Oris company shield, the company's emblem in the 1960s.
In short, the newOris Divers Sixty-FiveIt is a beautiful member of the collection, faithfully continuing one of the most compelling stories of the independent Swiss brand in recent times.
