For many years now, Aniceto J. Pita had in mind a model like the one that now sees the light of day: the Pita Molinos Orbital. At that time, and consistent with its legendary simplicity, Aniceto simply called it “Molinos.” Because if there is something that characterizes the work of this veteran member of the AHCI (Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants) it is precisely his essential conception, where his designs but above all his technical solutions do not have a single extra line. Inventor of the TSM (Time Setting Mechanism), which eliminates the stem and crown system to set the watch to time, or the RT (Remote Transmission), which adds to the above a system of powerful magnets, he also decides the final look of his creations: minimalism in its purest form.

Molinos Orbital started (as Molinos) in 2009, when Aniceto J. Pita showed us the first prototypes to some privileged people. And the response he gets is unanimous: great!! It is a way of reading time that, although not entirely original (Andreas Strehler had already proposed something similar with his “Papillon”), applies the aforementioned principle of “less is more,” making it perfectly intelligible even without any needle in sight. Those responsible for displaying the time are two wheels that, synchronized by different pinions also visible, function as the hour and minute hand. If we add to this the TSM or, more simply put, we remove the crown, we have a genuine Pita watch or what the corny would call “Pita DNA”.

Between 2009 and 2018, many things have happened, not the least of which is that Aniceto J. Pita has equipped himself with a five-axis CNC machine to produce not only his own boxes but all the elements he may need to complement or modify the calibers that serve as the basis for his creations. The result of this long process of technical perfection and aesthetic maturation is the Molinos Orbital “Classic Edition”, a model that provides the elegant preciousness of the black diamonds on the indexes while respecting the original – foundational, I would say – idea of minimalism.

In a 904L steel case, the Molinos Orbital Classic Edition will be produced in a series limited to 71 pieces, a figure that coincides with the age of the creator and whose custom began with the RE-1 made for the Special Watches forum in 2004: then the series was limited to 57 units. Returning to the Molinos Orbital, and apart from this limited series, customizations can be ordered based on a base design, so that collectors can get their long-awaited unique piece. And for a price that we can describe as affordable taking into account the exclusivity: €7,750 (plus taxes within the EU) that can be paid in 12 interest-free installments.
The subscription period begins on July 18 at http://www.pita.es/molinos-orbital-classic-edition.html
