A few days ago they contacted me fromEverest Bandsto ask me if I would be interested in being sent onereview of their strapsto post in the forum. I already knew their rubber straps because of how much they had been talked about at the time and because they had been a huge success.crowdfundingwhen they were presented on Kickstarter. The concept was relatively simple: make straps for and at the height ofRolex.
My response was quite quick: why don't you send me one of these straps and I'll do the review? His was no less: in two days he had the strap in Barcelona, and that was leaving from Sant Luis, Missouri. The corporate color and even the logo are reminiscent of the crown brand, but it does so - I think - with subtlety.

Currently their catalog has grown and in addition to accessories they also offer leather straps. Being able to choose, I decided on the black rubber one, which for me is the essence of the original concept. The shipment arrived accompanied by a set of tools for changing straps that, not being included in the price of the strap, have been useful to me when it comes to an operation that is not always fluid withendlinkssolid as are those of 116710BLNR.

Each item comes in its own green envelope that contains, in addition to the strap (or the tools), a considerable amount of information, from the warranty to both assembly instructions (they refer you to the website) and - if applicable - return instructions. For once they have taken Spanish into account and the latter also come in this language. Let's see if the example spreads. There is also a card-brochure with photos of straps that in my opinion could have been saved from the moment the purchase was made via the web, but I suppose the marketing department will have already taken that into account.

Going to the most important thing, all items come in a protective case made of semi-transparent plastic with two closures. The perceived quality is high even before opening it, and the good news is that the sensation is maintained once you touch the product: the rubber has a “fresh” feel, flexible without being soft, and luminous without being shiny. It comes with two Rolex-type pins, that is, thick and therefore resistant looking.

One of the concerns of every good strap maniac is the famous gap that remains between the straight strap and the watch case, and this would be the second strong point of this strap: its curved but above all ridged end makes it fit perfectly on the case as if it were aend link. On the other hand, the buckle – included – has a very similar finish to that of the case.

Siamese futures on the operating table. I admit that starting to manipulate a bracelet ofRolexIt gives a certain respect, especially because the pieces come so well adjusted that you have the feeling that you are going to mark it no matter what. And it would seem that inEverestThey think the same, because your card suggests that we put this job in the hands of a professional.

Still, if you decide to do it on your own, at least use the right tools. The house sells asetwhich from my point of view is excessive. Equally well presented, it contains a screwdriver and a tool for removing and installing pins with two very different ends, and although the latter proves to be very useful, the truth is that I did not use the screwdriver at all.

The operation helps me verify that the watch's serial number no longer appears in the space between the lugs. I mean I knew that number is now on the inner ring of the box, but now I know that number is not written twice.

On the left, the original pin ofRolex. On the right, theEverest. They are almost the same.

Thanks to the flexibility of the material, the operation of putting on the rubber strap is much easier than removing the bracelet. Here the help of the thick side of the pin tool is appreciated because it serves to relocate the rubber in case it did not go in the first time.

We can store the bracelet or armis in the same bag that brought the strap, with the feeling that it will be well protected.

And the result. One may wonder why one would want to install a rubber strap on a watch that only fits its own bracelet, and I have found the answer in the mirror-polished center link. Without questioning all the improvements that the ceramic series has brought to the sports collection ofRolexand especially on the bracelet, I have always had the feeling that that mirror-polished touch made it less sporty, more delicate but above all more striking.

After a couple of days using it I can say that it is a very comfortable strap in every way, with the flexibility-stiffness balance perfectly resolved and that surprisingly it has not given me the feeling of added heat to what we are experiencing these days here (around 28-30ºC). On the other hand, it keeps the barracudas away… no, seriously: wearing a black belt instead of a shiny bracelet makes you feel less watched when going through public places.

It is not a cheap strap as such (225 USD, just over 200 euros) but from my point of view it is the only rubber strap that can look good on a Rolex: perfect finishes, at the level of the watch you are going to wear, and a quality that – without being able to guarantee it due to lack of time with it – is perceived as equally high. If we take into account that the owner of aRolexis no longer easily scared depending on what prices, theEverestIt is an experiment that can be allowed.
As a constructive criticism, I think that, precisely given the price of the piece, the pin removal-placement tool should come as an accessory and not be charged separately (37.50 USD, almost 34 eur, although as I said before they could save the screwdriver).
