El Zeitwerk Decimal StrikeIt is the third model since 2009Lange & Söhnelaunched the first Zeitwerk with mechanical display of jumping figures. In this latest version, this prodigious family of watches is completed with the introduction of chimes for acoustic time indication.
As in his predecessors, theZeitwerk Decimal StrikeIt requires a lot of energy to advance the jumping figures, which has made it possible for part of that complementary energy to be allocated to automatic chiming.
Thus, the new member of the family, which in its new conception has been limited to 100 copies, has two bells tuned with different tones that sound, one when the hours are up and the other at ten-minute intervals. The sound is produced by two polished steel hammers, visible on the side of the dial, which together with the hammer bridge are provided with a trembling engraving. The chime can be deactivated whenever desired.
The force for advancement is guaranteed by the tension readjustment mechanism that the brand has patented, and which is located between the barrel wheel and the balance. The mechanism also ensures that the forward force of the steering wheel is constant throughout the entire duration of the ride.
In addition to this display of technical precision, theZeitwerk Decimal StrikeIt has been produced with special attention to materials. The 44.2 mm case is made of honey gold, an exclusive product of Lange & Söhne. It features a three-quarter plate made of natural nickel silver with Glashüte band polishing, a hand-engraved balance wheel bridge and an eccentric balance wheel made in-house. The manually wound caliber L043.7 has a maximum power reserve of 36 hours.
