El Calatrava Pilot Travel TimeIt is a revision of the reference 5524 model that was introduced to the market in 2015. It stood out for its white gold case with a blue dial, dual time zone operation and date indication linked to local time. Now Patek Philippe presents a new version, with the rose gold case enhanced by a brown dial with a subtle black gradient effect.
The piece pays tribute to Patek Philippe's tradition of pilot watches. Inspired by aeronautics, the legibility of the dial is reinforced by the applied openwork rose gold numerals filled with a luminescent white coating, as well as “baton” hands, also visible in the dark. The number 1 of the calendar hand, which crowns the auxiliary dial at 6 o'clock, is emphasized by an orange color.
Distinguished by its second time zone display system, the self-winding caliber 324 S C FUS is truly easy to use. Simply press one of the pushers located on the left side of the case to advance (lower pusher) or go back (upper pusher) the local time hand (solid hand) from hour to hour without the slightest loss of precision. On the other hand, the open hand keeps the home time. Both time zones have day/night indicators (windows at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock). When the wearer is not traveling, the two hour hands are superimposed on each other. To avoid accidental misalignments of the local time, the two time zone buttons have a patented safety system.
The newCalatrava Pilot Travel TimeIt is fitted with a vintage brown calfskin strap fitted with a rose gold double pin buckle inspired by the belts that allowed aviators to secure their emergency kit. It is also available in a women's version with the new reference 7234R-001.
