If you want to mount a wall light where no electrical box was pre-installed, you can create a light point using surface-mounted conduit. This DIY method involves running three wires (live, neutral, ground) from the nearest junction box through a conduit channel to your desired location—no need to chisel into the wall.

In our hands-on project, we mounted a halogen lamp to the wall using its bracket, secured with two wall plugs. After disconnecting the power, we made the electrical connections and installed the lamp.

Installing the Switch Yourself
After deciding where to place the switch, we attached the conduit channels to the wall using wall plugs. We drilled two holes for the plugs that hold the switch box. Insert the plugs, position the box, and tighten the screws fully. Feed the cable into the conduit and connect the conductors to the switch terminals. Attach the cover plate by tightening the two outer screws, ensuring it’s secure. For more home improvement tools and supplies, check out our collection.
Mounting the Halogen Lamp
The electrical cable from the switch connects to the lamp by inserting the live, neutral, and ground wires into the terminal block on the base. Then, snap the base into the bracket previously fixed to the wall with two wall plugs. Insert the halogen bulb into the socket between the spring contacts—never touch the bulb with bare hands; use a cloth or paper.
