Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold: It's a fact and it's out next week 2026

After months of rumors, leaks and test models, Samsung has officially unveiled its first triple-folding smartphone.

The Galaxy Z TriFold is an important milestone in the company's journey in foldables, now having more than 16 different foldable devices to its credit. The new model brings the largest display ever placed on a device in the Galaxy Fold series, as well as software and hardware upgrades.

Design and screens

The device is based on two titanium hinges, which fully protect the internal screen when closed. Unlike Huawei's system, the external screen is located at the back, while the two parts of the panel fold towards the center.

When opened, the main screen measures 10 inches, with a resolution of 2,160 × 1,584, a variable refresh rate of 1–120Hz and a brightness of up to 1,600 nits. The right side houses a 10MP selfie camera, while the protective film is pre-installed, as on all Z foldables.

The external display has a size of 6.5 inches, a resolution of 2520 × 1080 and the same adaptive refresh rate (1–120Hz). Maximum brightness reaches 2,600 nits and protection is provided by Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, with another 10MP selfie camera.

Software and multitasking

Galaxy Z TriFold comes with One UI 8 based on Android 16. The large internal screen area allows for more flexible multitasking, including the ability to open three full-sized apps in a vertical layout.

It is worth noting that it is the first Samsung smartphone with a standalone Samsung DeX function, which can be activated directly from Quick Settings, turning the mobile into a small desktop when connected to a keyboard and mouse.

Construction and durability

The body is made from the new Advanced Armor Aluminum, making the device extremely thin — just 3.9mm at its thinnest point. The weight reaches 309 grams, while when closed the TriFold has dimensions of 159.2 × 75 × 12.9 millimeters. IP48 certification offers dust and water resistance, just like the Z Fold7 and Z Flip7.

Performance and cameras

Inside is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, the same processor used in the Z Fold7. It comes with 16GB RAM and 512GB or 1TB storage space.

The camera system on the back comes from the Z Fold7:

main sensor 200MP (ISOCELL HP2),

10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom,

ultra wide angle 12MP.

Battery and charging

Inside is a triple battery with a total capacity of 5,600mAh, distributed among the three rear panels. It supports 45W fast charging and 15W wireless charging.

Availability

The Galaxy Z TriFold will be released exclusively in one color—Crafted Black. The price has not yet been announced. South Korea will be the first market to welcome it, launching on Friday, December 12. This will be followed by China, Taiwan, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and the USA.
