What You Need to Build a Christmas Tree Stand

• Wood 20 mm thick (6 pieces 50×180 mm; 3 pieces 40×500 mm; 2 round pieces diameter 200 mm)
• 1 fir log diameter approx. 55-58 mm
• 3 bolts 8×70 mm
• 6 washers
• Screws 3×35 mm

How to Make the Christmas Tree Support

The DIY Christmas tree stand consists of two stacked drilled discs, into which a real log is inserted, drilled lengthwise to receive the stem of the artificial tree. Between the discs, crosspieces made of two parallel pieces are fixed with screws, connecting to the three bolted and removable feet.

Cutting and Shaping

From a 20 mm thick wood plank or boards, cut the various pieces: the first serves as a cutting template for the others. Shaping, sanding with sandpaper, and the through holes should be done on identical pieces, stacked for greater precision.

The crosspieces of the tree stand feet are rounded and shaped at one end, with an 8 mm through hole for the bolt. The two discs are drilled in the center using a hole saw: Ø 60 mm for the upper disc, 30 mm for the lower one, to insert the log, which is itself drilled internally to receive the Christmas tree.

The three feet of the tree stand have oblique cuts at both ends, both for ground support and for attachment to the log, to which they are joined with three screws. The 8 mm hole for the bolt is 200 mm from the ground.
