Bell&Ross, faithful to its annual appointment with Formula 1, as official watch partner of the Renault team, has launched a series ofthree chronographs inspired by the RS17that unite the two great passions that have always represented this prestigious brand: aeronautics and motorsports. The result is three chronographs specially designed by expert engineers in both areas and that seek to combine speed, mechanical precision and maximum performance in a watch.
A common denominator of this series of high-precision watches is its design and its chromatic code that allows quick and accurate reading of the time. Inspired by an F1 steering wheel, the different indices adopt a different color so that the driver can view them instantly and without risk of error. The materials used: forged carbon, titanium or ceramic, are identical to those used in the grand prix cars.
The series consists of the chronographs: the BR 03-94 RS17, the BR X1 RS17 Skeleton Chronograph and the BR X1 RS17 Tourbillon Chronograph. The chronograph is a complication invented to measure very short times with extreme precision, making it essential for pilots and timekeepers. Its mechanism is extremely complex, often requiring a third more parts than a classic watch caliber. Its movements, of great sophistication, resemble the most powerful engines, those technological jewels that propel racing cars.
On all three watches, the elements associated with the chronograph complication are partially covered with “Renault” yellow. Since the brand entered Formula 1 in 1977, the cars have sported this color.
In terms of materials, these three watches present the latest innovations. The case is made of Carbone Forgé® and the dial is made of carbon fiber, a lightweight and extremely resistant composite material, ideal for the manufacture of structural parts subjected to extreme mechanical stresses. Bell & Ross engineers have modified its fibers, the resin that binds them and the tools necessary for their finishing to meet the quality criteria required in watchmaking. In this way, completely hermetic and impeccably executed boxes have been obtained.
