El Hublot Big Bang Unico Magic Gold Magic GoldIt is a fusion of 24-karat gold and the latest high-tech advances developed by Hublot and the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. The components made with this alloy undergo a complex process: the boron carbide powder is previously shaped in molds that approximate the final shape of the pieces, in this case, that of the watch bezel. The preforms are then hardened at a very high temperature, so that a rigid and porous structure is created. After this operation, 24 K gold alloyed with 3% melting liquid is infiltrated at a very high pressure of inert gas at a high temperature so that the metal fills the pores of the ceramic, performing the "fusion" of both materials. Its hardness, close to 1000 vickers (18-carat gold reaches 400 vickers), and its composition have led it to be recognized by the Bureau du contrôle des Métaux Précieux as 18 carats.
