Before presenting you theBlue Series by A. Lange & Söhne, we should first go back in time to explain the origin of this spectacular tone. The natural ultramarine blue obtained from lapis lazuli was so rare and valuable that Albrecht Dürer paid its weight in gold. It was only at the beginning of the 18th century when the manufacture of a pigment called Prussian blue was achieved. It is a shade of dark blue accidentally discovered by chemist Heinrich Diesbach in Berlin in 1704 and this is why it is sometimes called Berlin blue. It's not an exact formula: the chemical formula of Prussian blue is Fe7(CN)18(H2O)x where 'x' is a value ranging from 14 to 16, which somewhat makes it an art form.
Because we also talked about art in the presentation in Rabat and for the first time! from the Blue series by A. Lange & Söhne: the LANGE 1, LANGE 1 DAYMATIC, SAXONIA and SAXONIA AUTOMÁTICO, models already known in their versions with white or black dials (even brown in the case of the Saxonia) that now reach boutiques and authorized distributors in a mesmerizing blue color on solid silver dials, paying tribute to the color discovered by Diesbach in the already distant 18th century.
Housed in powerful white gold cases, the four models of the A. Lange & Söhne Blue series are equipped with the manufacture's own calibers, which present all the quality characteristics of Lange: from the artisanal finishing of all the mechanism parts to the complicated double assembly. Even the surfaces, which are then not visible through the sapphire crystal caseback, are ennobled by grinding and polishing. The edges of all steering wheel plates, bridges and bridges are bevelled and then mirror polished. The hand-engraved balance bridge with the classic gooseneck regulator is another of the hallmarks of the Saxon house.
The presentation took place in the emblematic establishment that Rabat opened just two years ago on Passeig de Gràcia in Barcelona and culminated with a lunch served by the prestigious chef Nandu Jubany.
