American essence to celebrate a loss of mythical proportions.Ball Watchescelebrates 150 years since the disappearance of the submarine precursor CSS Hunley with the launch of theEngineer Hydrocarbon Nunley, a limited edition piece from 1864 that comes with the innovative Amortiser anti-shock system patented by the brand.
El Engineer Hydrocarbon NunleyIt has a 42 mm case. The date appears off-center between 4 and 5 o'clock. The black dial includes the minute graduation with a minted representation of the CSS Hunley. In a combination pioneered by Ball Watches, the watch has a bezel subjected to a luminescent paint on the ceramic, which gives it exceptional resistance and allows very easy reading in the dark. The Arabic numerals also give the hours using H3 gas microtubes which are also in the hour indices and hands.
The Armortiser device protects the BALL RR1201 automatic caliber against external impacts, since any impact can cause oscillations in the rotor, which limits the use of these watches for certain sports and under certain circumstances. The Amortiser comprises an anti-magnetic ring that surrounds the movement and absorbs shock energy and also preserves precision against possible magnetic exposures. In addition, the Amortiser has a rotor locking mechanism through a submarine propeller-shaped switch located at the bottom of the case to save the system in case the watch is exposed to sudden situations.
El Engineer Hydrocarbon Nunley de Ball WatchesIt is water resistant up to 200 meters and has the patented crown protection system common to all models in the series. It is also protected from magnetic fields with an intensity of 4,800 A/m and from shocks with a force of 7,500 Gs. The tapered stainless steel bracelet features Ball Watch's patented triple folding clasp.
The CSS Hunley was a Confederate States Navy submarine that disappeared during the American Civil War and a symbol of American history. With its 12 meters long and eight tons, the South used it to attack the Northern States and was responsible for the sinking of the Union ship USS Housatonic after which its entire crew perished. For Ball Watches, the innovative nature of this naval ingenuity is the perfect excuse to design the Engineer Hydrocarbon Nunley, a watch that brings together all the watchmaking innovations of recent years.
