airmanIt has been the emblematic model ofGlycine, originally conceived by Charles Hertig for intercontinental airline pilots who needed a dual-time reference.

What continues to differentiate theairmanof the rest of the watches with GMT function is its 24-hour dial, a true and immediate global success when it was launched at Baselworld that year, one after Rolex presented its GMT Master.
It is true that, accustomed as we are to the 12-hour clock, handling this reading requires some training and even help from the AM/PM or “noon” indications that appear on some of its dials, but it is no less true that its defenders are staunch defenders. It has assembled various calibers, from its own in its origins, A. Schild and recently ETAsa.

The Airman 1 is the first model reissue of that name. It has not only the size of the time (which would seem small now) but also the shape of the box, with handles that would seem oversized but at the same time give it that peculiar appearance.
With the diameters that have been used lately, it looks a bit small (could we say “content”?) but somehow it recovers a little sanity in this growth that seems to have no end… It has a 24-hour dial although its movement (base 2892, I suppose) is 12 with an auxiliary hand that marks those 24. The GMT function is achieved with the rotating bezel, fixed by that second crown, which is just that: a sear.

For its part, and for yet another year, the Airman 17 has been the prize for the champions of the ACB or Endesa league. Less than 30 numbered units for the players, coaching staff and a couple of copies for the archives. Transparent back that reveals the personalized rotor in a 46mm diameter case (what I said above) and an equally personalized rubber strap that is assumed not to look out of place on the wrists of its wearers.
