Last May, Miguel Muñoz Joyeros brought together a significant number of collectors at the Abadía del Sacromonte, a 17th century enclave, an asset of cultural interest and Historical Heritage of Spain, for the presentation of the 2017 collection ofPatek Philippein Granada and a large part of the new products presented at Baselworld.
The evening began with a private visit to the Abbey museum, where it was possible to see the fabulous collection of paintings and sculptures it houses. Highlights include, among others, the portrait of Don Francisco de Saavedra by Goya, The Coronation of the Virgin by the Holy Trinity by José Risueño or the Calvary carved in ivory from the school of Alonso Cano.
In the watchmaking part, the role was shared. We were able to see the entire Nautilus collection, which recently (2016) celebrated its 40th anniversary, the Aquanaut collection that turns 20 in 2017 (special mention for the 5168 model with blue dial) and the perpetual calendar complication in its different variants. The women's collections, notable for their delicate finishes and diamond settings, provided a glamorous touch to a unique night. There were also exceptional pieces such as reference 6102-001 showing the constellations and the celestial map of the Northern Hemisphere with the area visible from Geneva delimited by an ellipse.
We also have the presence of a master watchmaker fromPatek Philippe, who, with the help of some scale models, was explaining the arcana of Fine Watchmaking to collectors and fans. To know is to love, and the better you know your watch itself, the more you appreciate the work it entails.
To round off this night dedicated to knowledge, there was the presence of two astronomy fans, who, using various observation equipment, showed us live Jupiter along with its main moons, which helped us understand the wonderful complexity of a celestial map inscribed on a clock.
