In watchmaking, as in life, every choice counts. At Baume&Mercier they know it or, at least, they want us to know that they know it and, to prove it to us, last week they invited us to the presentation in Barcelona of the brand new ambassador of theClifton Club collection. Between simplicity and sporting excellence, between the common man and the Olympic hero, Saúl Craviotto received the specialized media in a unique space, Talento Studio, in the Sarriá neighborhood, equipped for the occasion with rowing simulators.

Quadruple Olympic canoeing champion, Craviotto has been selected by the Swiss brand for representing the elegance and success of a man who, despite his sporting triumphs, maintains his simple daily life as a police officer in which discipline and a healthy life are fundamental values.
While the audiovisual media did their best in interviews with the protagonist, the showcases allowed the rest to admire the brand's most automotive collection up close. With the special edition Clifton Club Cobra at the forefront and the various mechanical and quartz models accompanying it in separate showcases, the event made it clear that theClifton Club collectionIt is a fundamental bet for the brand and its chronograph, a piece that aspires to position itself in the category of special editions of other brands.

The association of the Swiss watchmaker with the Carroll Shelby Company began in 2015 but has now blossomed with the presentation of this collection that pays tribute to the Cobra Daytona Coupe model, a legendary American car that won some of the main motorsport events of the mid-sixties, with Le Mans at the forefront.
A great qualitative bet from the Swiss house, the brand new chronograph version of the Clifton watch is the result of the manufactory working closely with the designer of the legendary car, Peter Brock. Accompanied by a miniature designed by and for collectors from the world of motorsports, this special edition of the Clifton Club, with a calfskin strap with a carbon fiber print and a two-tone white and blue dial, will only go on sale in 196 units, unlike the 1,964 pieces of the rest of the models. It has a La Joux-Perret caliber, an automatic chronograph with Flyback or "Retour en Vol" function, which allows you to restart a chronograph time without having to first reset it to zero.

With the intention of turning the Clifton Club Diver collection into a versatile watch, the case, made of 316L stainless steel, is round and maintains contained dimensions with a diameter of 42 mm and a thickness of 10.3 mm. The color codes used (white, black, blue) are also in line with the intended versatility.
LaClifton Club collectionIt shares sporty attributes and high-end finishes in all its versions and features a steel bezel with ADLC treatment and unidirectional movement to prevent it from giving erroneous information in case of confusion during handling. To be more manageable, the shape of the bezel overflows slightly and rotates in 120 notches to offer maximum precision.

The two versions with a polished-satin stainless steel case (black or blue dial) have a steel bracelet. The fifth variant is all in black: black dial, steel case with black ADLC treatment (Amorphous Diamond Like Carbon, 2-3 µm thick coating) and integrated black rubber bracelet with openwork areas. It also has "boat cloth" and NATO straps. The best: starting prices below €2,000, obviously not in the special edition :)
