One of the most characteristic points of Sinn throughout its history is, without a doubt, its eagerness to develop technology in the world of watchmaking. Therefore, for some time now, they have been working on the development of new regulations that regulate the characteristics that a Pilot's watch must have. This is how the norm came to light last March 2016DIN 8330, the new standard for Pilot watches.

The normDIN 8330defines what a pilot's watch should be able to do and support. This includes, among other things, fast and clear readability of the dial, both day and night, the ability to manipulate the watch even with pilot gloves and great precision, not only at room temperature but also in a range between -15ºC and 55ºC.

For this reason, these watches have to be subjected to different tests, which simulate the different pressure changes that a watch can be subjected to during takeoff from the plane.
Watches certified according to the standardDIN 8330They are designed to fully assume the functions of time measurement instruments on airplanes and helicopters, even in the event of foreseeable interruptions or failures. That is, they have to meet certain requirements in terms of functionality and readability, resistance to external stresses, safety and compatibility, being able to withstand defined vibrations, impacts and centrifugal force loads, temperature changes and magnetic fields. In addition to meeting all these requirements, they have to be useful on a daily basis.

To obtain the new regulations for pilot watchesDIN 8330, Sinn has had the collaboration of Lufthansa Cargo, Airbus Helicopters (Eurocopters) DNV GL and Aachen University.

And most importantly for watch fans: Sinn is already working on the next Pilot's watches that comply with this regulation. The Sinn 103 Ti UTC IFR, Sinn 103 Ti IFR, and Sinn 857 UT VFR models.
1. Sinn 103 Ti UTC IFR and 103 Ti IFR
CHARACTERISTICS:
• Case made of titanium
• Anti-Humidity Technology for better readability between -45ºC and 80ºC
• Pilot bezel with numerical scale
• Sapphire Crystal
• Visible back with sapphire crystal
• Pressure resistance up to 20 atmospheres
Furthermore, the version103 Ti UTC IFRIt has a second time zone based on 12 hours. These are two of the first watches in the world certified byDIN 8330that meet the requirements to be true Pilot's watches, and this is due to the use of Sinn's own technologies.
2. 857 UT VFR
CHARACTERISTICS:
• Case made of brushed stainless steel, with TEGIMENT technology for special scratch resistance
• Second time zone on a 24 hour basis
• Anti-Humidity Technology for better readability between -45ºC and 80ºC
• Pilot bezel with numerical scale
• Sapphire Crystal
• Resistance to pressures of up to 20 atmospheres
It is one of the first pilot watches in the world to be differentiated by its technical and functional characteristics, defined with a precision that allows it to withstand vibrations, impact loads, centrifugal force loads, temperature changes and magnetic fields that occur in flight.
The clockSinn 857 UTC VFRIt is easy and quick to read, both day and night. In addition, its pilot bezel is easy to manipulate even when wearing pilot gloves, and the Anti-humidity technology ensures that the watch will not suffer from fog or humidity in changes in temperature.
