A few days ago theSummit, Montblanc's first 'smartwatch' based, like the vast majority of these devices, on Android Wear, Google's technology. Also, like its competitors in this price range, it has placed it in the segment between just under €1,000 and €1,500. The summit, specifically, starts at €895. What it has innovated in is wanting to look for a classic look imitating that of its 1858 collection as opposed to the “modernity” that popular smartwatches advocate, although I think that the expression “creating a bridge to the world of Fine Watchmaking” contained in its press release is a bit exaggerated.
The 46mm case of the Montblanc Summit is available in four different materials and styles—in black PVD-coated steel, with a two-tone steel case and black PVD-coated steel bezel, in a satin-finished steel case, and in a satin-finished grade 5 titanium case. The pusher that controls the entire watch has the design of the crown of the 1858 collection. The watch faces, which are a representation of the aforementioned 1858 collection, present complications such as an Automatic Date, Small Seconds or Chronograph.

The Small Seconds and Chronograph can be combined with digital complications that provide useful information to the wearer, such as world time, an upcoming meeting or training goals. The additional urban watch face provides all information at a glance, such as notification of emails or messages, meetings or weather, not to mention an alarm clock designed by Montblanc and a chronograph (at 1/100th of a second)

There is also a dial with an Urban Timewalker design and further dials are planned that will be available to the owners of the Montblanc Summit in the Google Store, but if you are capricious and do not feel satisfied with the standard dials you can always contact the Montblanc design department and for a modest €15,000 (fifteen thousand euros) they will design one exclusively for you.
On the technical side, it features the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ Wear 2100 processor, one of the most advanced and powerful currently available, although we already know that that word – “currently” – is quite ephemeral in the world of smartwatches. Android Wear 2.0 is also compatible with Apple's IOS. The high-contrast AMOLED display measures 1.39 inches (286 ppi resolution), and that's made possible by the generous dimensions of the watch itself: 46mm in diameter. Continuing with the classic look, this screen is protected by a slightly curved sapphire crystal, another novelty compared to the competition.

The watch has a microphone for voice commands and numerous sensors: a heart rate monitor and sensors to measure steps and activities; a gyroscope and compass to measure the orientation of the watch; a barometer that can indicate altitude and an ambient light sensor that automatically adapts screen brightness based on lighting conditions. It can be charged via micro USB in a Montblanc magnetic port and connects via Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth®. In addition, it has 4GB Flash storage that can be used to synchronize and play music without the need for a smartphone.
Apart from being able to be configured with the applications that suit each user, the Montblanc Summit comes pre-loaded with Uber, Foursquare City Guide and Runtastic, the latter with a free three-month Premium account. You can send reminders about appointments and display incoming messages or phone calls. You can also scan barcodes on boarding passes. .. yes, the battery still lasts less than 24 hours, something that needs to be improved in all smartwatches with a screen.
