The German Design Council awards Nomos Glashuette for its Metro model. This award is added to the more than 120 awards won by the watch company, and yet nothing could be further from the routine.
Glashütte / Berlin, October 2014. In Metro around the world: Recently presented at this year's Baselworld fair, an international jury in Frankfurt am Main has awarded the Metro model the coveted German Design Award.
The Metro's design is "youthful and cosmopolitan, elegant and simple," according to the opinion of the 15 experts who made up the court. The German Design Award is recognized as one of the most important international design awards, reinforcing the reputation of designers and companies alike. It also rewards high-quality products and designs.
Mark Braun, the designer who created the watch for NOMOS Glashütte, is delighted: “The German Design Award is a great honor for me, it is a recognition of my design work and confirmation of a successful cooperation with an excellent company.”
With this award, the Metro joins a long list of winners: throughout its history Nomos Glashütte has received around 120 awards for its design and quality. The Tangente model, a design classic and best-seller for the brand, has won 40 awards alone. However, newer models are also winners: Ahoi, Zurich, Lux, and Lambda have already won eight awards since 2013.
This is the ninth award that NOMOS Glashütte has won this year alone, joining the iF Design Award (for the Ahoi), the Red Dot Design Award (for the Lambda Weißgold), Watch of the Year (Ahoi and Tetra 27 Karat), Goldene Unruh (Orion 38 grau, Ahoi Datum and Lambda Rosegold), and Luxe Design Award! (Ahoi).
"But we always say the same thing: Despite our success, each new award is as important and meaningful as the first of all, since it is a recognition of a lot of hard work. We are happy to have a glass of champagne to celebrate it and then get back to work," says Judith Borowski, head of brand and design at Nomos Glashütte. And adds: "creating watches that break new ground in the world of design is never routine."
