Recycle a barrel and make a wall bar cabinet to surprise all your guests in a great way. Making this original bar cabinet is a simple carpentry job, which will allow us to have several bottles organized and located in the same place.

We will remove two pieces from the barrel: the body and the lid of the furniture. To make the shelves we will use a melaminated chipboard, in our case 19 mm thick. And, to decorate and protect the wood, we will apply linseed oil.

Materials:

• 200 liter barrel
• 19mm melaminated chipboard
• 3.5 X 12.7 mm self-tapping screws
• 1 mm galvanized sheet
• Mounting adhesive
• Adhesive tape
• Flaxseed oil
• Hinges
• 4.5 X 4.5 mm lag screws
• Zinc plated hasp
• 6mm nylon dowels
• 5 X 50 mm spikes

Step 1

The first thing we will have to do is put adhesive tape on the barrel and insert some self-tapping screws into the straps, so that the structure does not come apart when cutting it. To do this job we will use the drill driver provided with a tip suitable for the size and shape of the screw.

Next, we make the cuts with the help of the jigsaw and a special blade for wood.

The next step is to place the part of the barrel that will be the body. We place the base of our furniture on the galvanized sheet and mark the outline with a marker, for example.

Then, we tie the metal piece to the table with a vice, replace the jigsaw blade with another suitable for cutting metal, and prepare the back piece of the bar cabinet. We cover our eyes with protective glasses.

Step 5

It's the turn of the hinges. We present them in their position, mark the accommodations and begin to make the recesses. First, we fillet the area with the jigsaw.

Using a chisel and the nylon mallet, we completely empty the boxes.

We can now place the hinges on the lid and secure them with their corresponding lag bolts. To make the work easier, you can previously drill some guide holes in the wood.

Now let's go with the shelves. We present two pieces of chipboard inside the furniture and mark the cutting lines. Next, we adjust the jigsaw skate to the inclination we need and cut the shelves.

Step 9

With the drill and a wood drill bit of the same diameter as the spikes that we are going to place, we make the holes in the barrel. In this case, the drill bit is 6 mm.

Step 10

Once we have reviewed the entire wooden surface with the sander, we remove the dust produced with a cloth or paper. We also clean the work area with the vacuum cleaner.

Step 11

The next thing we will do is apply mounting adhesive to the cover in order to reinforce the structure.

While the product dries, we put the metal sheet on the posterior of the barrel and fix it with some self-tapping screws.

Step 13

We apply mounting adhesive to the back edge of each shelf and place the pine pieces in place.

Step 14

With a cloth, we apply linseed oil to the visible side of the barrel. This product nourishes the wood and enhances the grain. Inside the furniture we are going to maintain the maroon color left by the wine.

Step 15

Finally, we put the hasp or lock on the straps, to be able to completely close the door. We also placed the hooks and installed some eyelets on the wall to hang the bar cabinet.
