How to Make a Mini Bar from a Plastic Container, this time I will show you how to make a mini bar in this small article.
How I did it: You can check by searching DIY videos or you can follow the instructions below.
For this project you will need:
Materials:
- 20l Jerry Can (Robust liquid container made of pressed steel)
- Rubber stamp (2.5m length)
- Small screws, bolts, washers
- Wood screws
- Clamps
- Hinges
- Pop rivets
- 1cm thick plywood
- Polyurethane windshield glue
- Black matte paint
- Finish
Tools:
- Drill and bits
- Table/miter saw for cutting plywood
- Cutters
- Angle grinder
- Rotary tool
- Some marking and measuring tools
Step 1: Measurement and marking

As a base for this construction I will use a twenty liter container. A gasoline container. To get a nice round corner shape, I used a random plastic cap as a guide.
Step 2: Cuts

Using an angle grinder, cut straight lines and cut corners with a rotary tool. Used angle grinder with flap disc for cleaning.
Step 3: Edge Seal

To cover all the edges, I used this rubber edge stamp. It is flexible and bends well over corners. No glue or other fixing product is necessary, as it stays very well. I bought it locally, but I will leave an equivalent product link. Just in case; https://goo.gl/ryXLwD
Installation is very simple: just slide it onto the edge. This is the first time I have worked with this rubber stamp and I am very happy with the result.
Step 4: Fixing Hinges

Marked for hinges and drilled holes for rivets. I used green painted rivets. The color wasn't exactly the same shade, but it was pretty close.
The entire internal surface was sterilized in matte black.
Step 5: Latches

It's time to install the removal latches. The procedure is the same as with hinges: drill holes and secure it in place. The only difference is that this time I used bolts, washers and screws instead of pop rivets.
Step 6: Make the shelf

I measured and cut the necessary pieces of 1 cm thick plywood. Measure, cut, measure again, cut, sand, etc. This process was really boring, so I'll just show you the final assembly.
This shelf was specifically made with three sections for specific items: left for soda cans, middle for glass, and right for a bottle.
Step 7: Shelf Levels

In the center section, two pieces of plywood were added to separate the glass. I needed to unscrew one side to get enough space for clamps.
Since the left section was too deep, I raised it by gluing some plywood spacers and an extra piece of plywood to the bottom. I glued two side supports from the same plywood. They will have 4 soda cans in a row. For the applied finish, two layers of light matte varnish were used.
Step 8: Interior Knobs

Three small knobs were made from the same plywood. They will hold the glass in place and not allow it to fall.
Step 9: Gluing pieces

Use polyurethane windshield adhesive to stick the shelf. Made many glue dots that ensure a wide gripping surface and will give a lot of strength. I don't want to use wood screws as they will be visible from the other side of the container. So polyurethane glue was the perfect choice.
Slowly slide it in, center it, give a good amount of pressure and let it dry.
Step 10: Result

I am more than happy with the final result. Great project for any DIYer.
All items inside are easily accessible and at the same time secured in place while transporting the minibar. The same concept could be used to store anything. All you need is to work on different shelving designs (inside). Greetings!
