Cardboard Drawers Lined with Jeans, which you can use in any space in the home. I have always loved making creative items and crafts, especially by reusing old materials and giving them a new life.

This is a tutorial on how to make a small drawer with cardboard and denim.

I personally use it to store supplies and notions for future projects, but the drawer itself could also be used decoratively.

I have not specified measurements for this project because technically you could use anything, the sizes depend on the type of cardboard, the type of fabric and the size of the tetra packs.

Step by step to make cardboard drawers lined with jeans:

#1: Gather Your Supplies

For this project you will need:

• Cardboard, preferably the sturdy, soft kind.
• A rule.
• Scissors.
• A pencil.
• A utility knife (optional – depends on the type of cardboard you use)
• Glue to make manual arts.
• Firm thread.
• 8 Tetra packs (clean) of juice, milk or other products.
• Pieces of fabric and labels from old jeans.
• 8 Buttons (I used the ones on the jeans themselves).
• Construction paper.

#2: Preparing the Tetra Packs

• For the drawer, you will only need the bottom part of the tetra packs.
• Cut them to the desired height.
• I made mine square, but any size will work.
• The top part of the Tetra packs will not be necessary; You can set them aside or recycle them.

#3: Denim for Tetra Packs

• Cut a piece of denim large enough to wrap around a square of tetra packs, making sure it is long enough to go around it completely and wide enough to extend beyond the ends of the tetras by two centimeters on each side, as shown in the first image. Do this for each square tetra pack, for a total of eight times.
• Next, cut 16 squares of the same size (two for each tetra pack). These will be used on the bottom of the packages, one on the outer bottom and one on the inner lining.

#4: Measuring, sewing labels and buttons on the outer lining of the jean

• For each of the 8 long strips of denim fabric:
• Place the strip of fabric so that the longest side is facing you. Measure and mark a distance of approximately two centimeters from the edge on one side, as shown in the first image.
• Now move away from the short edge of the fabric strip by the width of the box and mark the location of the four sides of the tetra pack, as shown in the second image.
• Place the labels and buttons anywhere you want in the marked space and sew them firmly. Alternatively, you can try gluing the labels on, but I haven't tried this and don't know how it will turn out.

#5: Glue the fabric strips to the Tetra Packs

• For each of the 8 tetra packs:
• To start, place the visible side on the tetra pack and glue it. Wait for the glue to dry before continuing with the next steps.
• The reason for this is to ensure that the visible side of the boxes is glued accurately and does not move when you glue the other parts of the fabric strip (Fig. 1).
• Once the glue has dried, wrap the strip of fabric around the tetra pack and glue it down. Wait for the glue to dry (photo 2.)
• Fold and glue the top margin on the inside of the tetra box and wait for the glue to dry again (Image 3.)
• Turn the box over and cut off excess fabric at the corners so that when all the edges are folded they don't overlap. Glue them to the box (photos 4 and 5).
• Take the 16 squares you cut out in step 3 and glue one to the bottom outside of the box to cover the space left by folding the edges (Fig. 6) and glue the other to the bottom inside of the box (Pic.7).

#6: Cross insertion of cardboard frames

• Cut out 2 pieces of cardboard with a width equal to the width of a tetra box and a length twice the length of the tetra box, plus the thickness of the cardboard and 4 layers of denim. Without the added thickness, your boxes will not fit when inserted into the final product. If your tetra boxes are not cubed like mine, you may have to play with the measurement to get them right.
• Wrap and glue the 2 pieces of cardboard with denim. If the denim extends beyond the cardboard widthwise, cut it away. However, it should extend slightly beyond the cardboard lengthwise (1.5 cm – 2 cm). Do not glue the extra extended length of the fabric!
• Finally, cut a small notch in the center of each piece of cardboard. Make sure one piece is cut on the raw, uncovered side (the side that still shows some cardboard) and the other on the covered side (the side that has been completely wrapped with denim). This way, when you insert both pieces into each other to make a cross, both covered sides will line up. Otherwise, you will have an ugly combination of one side covered and one side uncovered.
• Repeat this step a second time.

#7: Preparing the exterior

• Now it's time to prepare the outer frame of the box.
• Take four tetra boxes, packaging and secure them to the cross insert using a firm thread. Don't actually glue the thread to the boxes, just make sure the entire contraption stays stable and doesn't move around too much (Fig. 1).
• Now we need to make four pieces of cardboard that will be the frame. Each of these pieces should be the same width as the tetra boxes and should wrap snugly around the corner of the contraption mentioned above (as shown by the orange parts in Image 2).
• Next, direct any denim fragments sticking out of the assembly. Cut the raw edges of the fabric bits so they can be folded in two different ways. Wrap the cardboard corners around the assembly and glue the cardboard to the fabric bits (Fig. 4).
• Now you can remove the strings.
• Repeat this step a second time.

#8: Connecting the two parts

• Using construction paper, wrap the back of both sets as shown in Image 1.
• Attach a piece of cardboard with a length and width equal to the size of the entire set to one of the contraptions.
• Finally, glue the two halves together.
• This is done to separate both halves and ensure that when a box is inserted into one side, it is not pushed out on the other side.

#9: Adding Layers

• This step is carried out to ensure that the outside of the drawer remains smooth.
• All rough edges created in the previous steps will be covered with a piece of thin cardboard.
• Cut 4 pieces of cardboard large enough to cover the outside sides of the drawer, as shown in the photos.

#10: Denim throughout the exterior

• Get a piece of denim large enough to wrap around the entire box (excluding the sides with the drawers). Make sure the denim overlaps the sides slightly with the drawers (photos 1 and 2).
• Attach the wrapper to the box. Personally, I added a small bag to the side of mine, but this is not required. Wait for the glue to dry.
• On overlapping parts, cut slits flush with the cross insert (Fig. 3).
• Fold and glue these overlapping parts to the box.

#11: Completion

Congratulations! Now you have a fully functional denim and cardboard drawer.
