Nothing introduced Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro with new cameras, Glyph and Nothing OS 4.1 2026

In Barcelona, as part of MWC 2026, we were able to see the new Phone series (4a) at an event organized by Nothing - but without having an exhibition space.

The company positions the Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro as a big step for the mid-range category, combining premium design, bold colors, flagship-grade cameras with periscope telephoto, Snapdragon performance and Nothing OS 4.1 for a faster and more personalized user experience.

In terms of design, the Phone (4a) Pro stands out with a metal unibody, flat surfaces and a thickness of 7.95 mm, the thinnest Nothing phone. It includes a 5300mm² VC cooling system and IP65 dust/water resistance, along with submersion protection up to 25cm for 20 minutes. The transparent back incorporates a camera and Glyph Matrix, with black, silver and metallic pink color options.

The Phone (4a) maintains the transparent aesthetic with an emphasis on functionality: central camera, red Recording Light and the new Glyph Bar. It has reinforced metal keys, reinforced camera bump and frame, IP64 certification and corresponding immersion support up to 25 cm for 20 minutes. Colors include black, white, transparent blue and pale pink.

On the photography front, the Phone (4a) Pro brings a Sony LYT700c main camera with OIS and a 50MP 3.5x periscope telephoto lens with OIS, zooming up to 140x. They are complemented by Sony ultra-wide and selfie 32MP. With TrueLens Engine 4, it supports Ultra XDR photos and 4K Ultra XDR videos, with HDR effects corresponding to Dolby Vision.

The Phone (4a) also features a 50MP 3.5x OIS periscope, a 50MP main sensor with OIS, Sony ultra-wide and a 32MP selfie snapper, covering 0.6x to 70x zoom. It includes Ultra XDR photos in partnership with Google and support for motion photos with instant sharing on Instagram, along with presets, professional settings, AI Photo Eraser and seven new Nothing watermarks.

The Glyph experience is differentiated: the Phone (4a) brings a Glyph Bar with 63 mini-LEDs in 7 square zones, up to 3500 nits (40% brighter than the Phone (3a)), while also acting as a fill light. Phone (4a) Pro incorporates Glyph Matrix 137 mini-LEDs, with 57% larger area and about 3000 nits, supporting Glyph Toys such as Battery, Timer, Digital Clock, Solar Path and Glyph Mirror.

Nothing OS 4.1 (Android 16) adds redesigned icons, a revamped lock screen, deeper dark mode, floating apps, resizable Quick Settings, AI Dashboard, camera and gallery improvements, and options like hiding apps and lightweight widgets via Playground. The series will receive 3 years of Android updates and 6 years of security patches, while Essential Space gets cloud access for use on multiple devices.

On the display, the Phone (4a) Pro goes up to 6.83″ AMOLED 1.5K, 450 PPI and 144 Hz, with peak brightness 5000 nits (HDR), 2500 Hz touch sampling and 2160 Hz PWM dimming, with Gorilla Glass 7i. The Phone (4a) has a 6.78″ AMOLED 1.5K (1224×2720), 440 PPI, peak brightness 4500 nits (HDR) and 120 Hz adaptive, also with 2500 Hz touch sampling, 2160 Hz PWM dimming and Gorilla Glass 7i.

For performance, the Pro is based on Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 with LPDDR5X and UFS 3.1, while the Phone (4a) is based on Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 with LPDDR4x and UFS 3.1. Both support BGMI at 120Hz and PUBG at 90Hz. The battery is 5080 mAh with 50W Fast Charging (60% in 30 minutes) and health management that keeps over 90% capacity after 1,200 cycles.

In terms of prices, the Phone (4a) starts at €349 (8+128GB), with €389 (8+256) and €429 (12+256) versions. The Phone (4a) Pro costs €479 (8+128) and €549 (12+256). Global pre-orders for the Phone (4a) open on March 5, 2026, with sales starting March 13. For Phone (4a) Pro, pre-orders start on March 13, 2026 and sales on March 27, 2026 in most markets.
