This bed and desk is a structure that in total measures 2 meters long, 1.75 wide and 1.50 high. It is made up of 4 parts: a mattress support, a desk, a dividing piece and a backrest with a shelf. To make this project we will work with pressed wood and plywood, both 18 mm thick.

1 round edges

- Round the edges of the backrest with an orbital sander.
2 Curves

- The cover has more noticeable curves, for that one end will measure 35 cm and it will increase until it reaches 80 cm, where the width is marked at 40 cm.

- Using a plate or bowl, round the corners and corners of the cover.
- Cut the round and curved edges with a jigsaw.
- Sand to remove splinters and discard edges.
3 Mixing edges

- Using a spatula, apply retaping putty on all edges, it is not necessary on the rest of the surface.
- Take out the excess and let it dry.
- Once the putty is dry, sand to even it out.
4 Paint

- Make a mixture of synthetic enamel paint with synthetic thinner, the proportion is 2 paint and 1 thinner.
- Pour the mixture into the gun and apply to the wood.
Round edges

- Using a bowl or plate, round the visible corners of the base, dividing piece and shelf
- Cut with jigsaw.
- Sand those rounded corners and all the edges.
Base frames

- The base of the bed must have a frame that lifts it off the floor and gives it rigidity.
- This frame is made by forming a 1.90 x 1.10 m rectangle with the 4x1" boards. You need 2 pieces of 1.90 m and 3 of 1.06 m. They are fixed with wood screws. To reinforce the center, a third 1.06 m board is placed, right in the middle.
- Inside this frame, screw pieces of 1×1”, there are 4 of 92 and 4 more of 1.02 m. They will provide a fixing surface for the base of the bed and will allow the wheels to be screwed later.
Place the base

- The base of the bed is assembled leaving a 5 cm edge.
- Pour cold glue on the edges of the frame and secure the base from below with the wood screws.
Put on the wheels

- Fix 6 wheels: 2 wheels at each end and in the center, placed alternately, one on each side of the center board.
- In each place where the wheels go, fix a piece of wood measuring 10×10 cm and screw the wheels on it.
Protect wood

- Use a brush to apply wood sealant to all plywood pieces (bed base, shelf and dividing piece).
Join the backrest with the dividing piece

- On the back of the backrest, make measurements to fix the dividing piece. From the left edge (looking at the backrest from behind) measure 52.5 cm. On that line, the first hole is 4 cm from the ground and the remaining 3 are 23 cm between their axes.
- On the front of the rear, place the dividing piece to make it fit with the marks and screw it in.
Attach the shelf to the backrest

- Also on the back of the backrest make marks to fix the shelf. From the top edge measure 16 cm and from the ends 6 cm. The rest of the fixings are approximately 32 cm from their axes.
- On the front of the backrest, place the shelf and make it fit with the marks made on the back, finally screw.
Set the desktop

- Fix 2 legs with screws, one at each end, 5 cm from the corner.
- To fix the desk to the backrest, put 4 brackets with a crossbar.
Insert the mattress stops

- Calculating the measurement of the mattress, screw 2 U bolts into each corner of the mattress so that it does not move.
- Finally join the base of the bed to the backrest and the dividing piece.
- Place the mattress secured with the stops.
