Plywood Laptop Stand, there are times when I want to work on my laptop while I'm in the living room instead of my office.
So I wanted to make a stand that can be used while sitting on my couch and gives me comfort and protection for my laptop. So I came up with this idea and design. Stay tuned to see how it turned out.
You will need:
- 20mm thick plywood
- 4 Strips of wood 1.0 x 5.5 x 50 cm (any species)
- Pocket hole template
- Drill
- Few 25 mm nails
- 30mm pocket screws
- 16mm wood screws
- Wood glue
- Sandpaper (220 and 400 grit)
- Table saw or radial arm saw
- Chopping saw (optional)
- 4 x 40 cm drawer slides.
Steps to make a plywood laptop stand
Step 1: The Basic Structure

For this step, you will need four pieces of plywood, two for the legs, one for the top, and one more for the bottom.
The top and bottom parts are the same, 46 x 30 cm.
The two legs are two pieces of 20 mm birch plywood with dimensions of 7.5 x 60 cm.
At one end, cut at a 5° angle because you want the table to tilt forward slightly to make it easier for you to type on your laptop.
On the pocket hole template, drill four pocket holes in each leg. Assemble with the top and bottom parts of the stand.
Step 2: Sliding Mouse Pad

Cut two strips of plywood measuring 2.0 x 2.0 x 40 cm. Glue the first one under the table flush with the edge of the plywood top.
Now glue the second one 21 cm from the first.
Finally, screw the two drawer slides together with the 30mm screws for each slide and cut one more piece of plywood 40cm long and wide enough to fit between the two slides.
Then place the piece of plywood on the slides.
Test if it slides in and out easily and make adjustments if necessary.
Step 3: Borders (Optional)

You can add a trim around the top of the table to make it look better.
Use a cutting saw or even a hand saw toCut two pieces for the front and back and two for the sides.
On the side of the drawer, be sure to cut the trim into three pieces to ensure the drawer slides in and out.
Step 4: Upper and lower support

Cut two more pieces of 16-inch plywood and drill two pocket holes in each end of them. Use some glue and pocket screws to attach them.
Your portable stand is ready. Use the paint of your choice and enjoy using it.
