Kilka dni temu pojawił się Summit, pierwszy „smartwatch” Montblanca, oparty – jak zdecydowana większość tych urządzeń – na Android Wear, technologii Google. Podobnie jak konkurencja w tym przedziale cenowym, został umieszczony w segmencie między nieco poniżej 1000 a 1500 euro. Summit zaczyna się konkretnie od 895 euro. Innowacją jest natomiast dążenie do klasycznego wyglądu, nawiązującego do kolekcji 1858, w przeciwieństwie do „nowoczesności”, którą promują popularne smartwatche, choć uważam, że wyrażenie „tworzenie pomostu do świata Fine Watchmaking” zawarte w komunikacie prasowym jest nieco przesadzone.

46-milimetrowa koperta Montblanc Summit jest dostępna w czterech różnych materiałach i stylach – w stali pokrytej czarnym PVD, w dwukolorowej stalowej kopercie z czarnym pierścieniem PVD, w kopercie ze stali satynowanej oraz w kopercie z tytanu klasy 5 w wykończeniu satynowanym. Przycisk sterujący całym zegarkiem ma wzór koronki z kolekcji 1858. Tarcze zegarka, będące reprezentacją wspomnianej kolekcji 1858, oferują komplikacje takie jak Automatyczna Data, Mała Sekunda czy Chronograf.

Małą Sekundę i Chronograf można łączyć z cyfrowymi komplikacjami, które dostarczają użytkownikowi przydatnych informacji, takich jak czas światowy, nadchodzące spotkanie czy cele treningowe. Dodatkowa tarcza miejska (urban watch face) zapewnia wszystkie informacje na pierwszy rzut oka, takie jak powiadomienia o e-mailach lub wiadomościach, spotkaniach czy pogodzie, nie wspominając o budziku zaprojektowanym przez Montblanca i chronografie (z dokładnością do 1/100 sekundy).

Dostępna jest również tarcza w stylu Urban Timewalker, a w planach są kolejne tarcze, które będą dostępne dla posiadaczy Montblanc Summit w Google Store. Od strony technicznej wyposażono go w procesor Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ Wear 2100, jeden z najbardziej zaawansowanych i wydajnych obecnie dostępnych, choć już wiemy, że słowo „obecnie” jest dość ulotne w świecie smartwatchy. Android Wear 2.0 jest również kompatybilny z systemem IOS firmy Apple. Wyświetlacz AMOLED o wysokim kontraście ma 1,39 cala (rozdzielczość 286 ppi), co jest możliwe dzięki dużym wymiarom samego zegarka: 46 mm średnicy. Kontynuując klasyczny wygląd, ekran ten jest chroniony lekko zakrzywionym szafirowym szkłem, co jest kolejną nowością w porównaniu z konkurencją.

Zegarek posiada mikrofon do poleceń głosowych oraz liczne czujniki: czujnik tętna oraz czujniki do pomiaru kroków i aktywności; żyroskop i kompas do pomiaru orientacji zegarka; barometr, który może wskazywać wysokość, oraz czujnik światła otoczenia, który automatycznie dostosowuje jasność ekranu do warunków oświetleniowych. Ładowanie odbywa się przez micro USB w magnetycznym porcie Montblanca, a łączność zapewniają Wi-Fi® i Bluetooth®. Możesz wysyłać przypomnienia o spotkaniach oraz wyświetlać przychodzące wiadomości lub połączenia telefoniczne. Możesz także skanować kody kreskowe na kartach pokładowych... tak, bateria nadal wytrzymuje mniej niż 24 godziny, co jest kwestią do poprawy we wszystkich smartwatchach z ekranem.
