We built a DIY sawbench almost entirely from reclaimed materials and parts. Here are the key steps.
Self-Built Sawbench

The robustness of our DIY sawbench comes from a steel tubular frame, with pieces joined by arc welding. Functionality stems from careful design and years of experience using these machines. Precision was achieved by not compromising on tolerances and sourcing special parts from salvaged machinery. For safety, we added proper blade guards, mushroom and key switches, and a prominent warning sign above the control panel. Circular Saw Bench: Project Development
The four tubular legs are joined in pairs at the bottom with the same tubing, while short flat bars temporarily hold the whole structure together. After welding the tubing around the top perimeter, we fixed a cut-to-size iron sheet using bolts, nuts, and washers. An iron sheet is also applied to the lower crosspieces; the motor with its mount is placed on it to determine position. The motor mount—sliding to tension the drive belts—is permanently fixed by welding. The lower blade guard is made from perforated steel sheet for chip disposal. For additional workspace organization, consider our desks and work surfaces collection to complement your sawbench.
Key Construction Steps
- Weld the steel tube frame.
- Attach the iron tabletop with bolts.
- Position and weld the motor mount.
- Install the blade guard and safety switches.
