How to Make a Hammock and Shoe Rack with PVC Pipes, there are different types of hammocks that have been used around the world for centuries. But I made something very different that I would never have seen, a hammock made of PVC. It is resistant, durable and waterproof. And the most important thing is that it is very comfortable.
Materials and Tools:
- PVC pipes
- Rope
- (2) S-shaped hooks
- (2) Eye Hook Anchor [Eye Bolt Anchor]
- Sierra
- Drill
Step 1: Selection of pipes

There are a variety of PVC pipes to choose from. But the one I used for the hammock is made of UPVC pipes because it is very resistant and rigid.
I used 1-1/4 inch tubing with an outside diameter of 1.6 inches [4.2 cm] of tubing. Do not use pipes larger than 2 inches as this will make the hammock uncomfortable.
Step 2: Cut the pipes

Once you have the pipes, then start cutting all those pipes into a length of 65 cm with a hacksaw. Also cut four pieces of pipe 15 cm long for the headrest.
After cutting the pipes, sand them with sandpaper. You can increase or decrease the length of the pipe according to your choice. I used 35 tubes since I didn't have much space. You can use more tubes to increase the length of the hammock.
Step 3: Drill Holes

To pass the rope you will need to drill a 12 mm hole. But before drilling, check the thickness of your rope and drill the holes.
The first thing you need to do is mark a point to drill holes. Take a pen and mark the point 5 cm from the end of the PVC pipe on both ends.
To drill holes, you will need to use a drill press. Since I didn't have a drill press, I went to a welding shop and drilled the holes.
Step 4: Passing the rope

Pass the rope through the holes at both ends of the pipe.
Step 5: Mounting the anchor to the ceiling

Place 2 eye bolt anchors in the ceiling at least 10 feet apart. The more distance you have, the more comfortable your hammock will be since there will be less bend.
Step 6: Tying the knot

Tying a good knot is very important as it will hold the entire hammock in place and prevent the hammock from sliding down. It is very difficult to explain the knot through photos.
But there are many knots available on the Internet that you can see. Make sure the knot you tie has a loop. I attach photos above of the one I used.
Once the knot is tied, place the S-loop. And now hang both ends on the anchor.
Step 7: Time to relax

PVC hammock is very different from a conventional hammock. And you get a completely different feeling when you lie down. The hammock takes the shape of your body as you lie down and gives you a pleasant massage and acupressure sensation. The feeling is something that can only be experienced only in real life and is very difficult to put into words.
To Assemble the Shelf:
Now in this second part, I will show you how to make a shoe rack made of PVC
Step 1: Materials

- 60 Feet of 1 1/4 PVC Pipe
- 20 1 1/4 Inch PVC Fittings (PVC Tee Splice)
- Tape measure
- Bookmark
- Miter or hand saw
Step 2: What you need to cut

You will have to cut…
- 6 3-foot tubes
- 4 1.5 foot tubes
- 4 10 7/8 inches
- 12 1.5 inch Tubes
- 8 2 Tubes
Step 3: Putting together part 1

Attach the T-junction fittings together using the 1.5 inch pieces and then on each end put a 2.5 inch piece.
Do this 4 times (two for each shelf)
Step 4: Putting together part 2

Get the 6 foot pieces and connect them to the three fittings on each end.
(3 3-foot tubes for each shelf)
Step 5: Putting together part 3

Attach a T-fitting to one end of each 10 7/8 in pipe
Next, connect a 1.5 foot pipe to the T fitting and then place a T fitting over the 1.5 foot pipes
Step 6: Putting Part 4 Together

Now attach the shelving to the top and bottom of the main frame
And….. Done! You can make it higher if you want by doing more1.5 feet, 1.5 inches, 2.5 feet and splicing accessories.
