However, it is exactly what this individual attempted to accomplish. He wanted his wife to interact with his bandmates even if she was quite content talking to someone else. There is nothing impolite about refusing to converse with others. Not everyone has that kind of energy. But this man felt betrayed by his wife’s behaviour and informed her so. Not only that, but it was her birthday, which put her in a bad attitude. I mean, she went to support him on her birthday, and all he could do was criticise her behaviour?

But he was smart enough to understand that he was wrong and promised to treat her better.

I understand that he wanted her to socialise more, but he needs to understand that he cannot compel her to do so. She found someone she could talk to and did so. There is nothing impolite about declining to join a group. As he explains, these are her acquaintances, so why should she grin and act as if they are her best friends? Not to mention the fact that it was his birthday and he was only concerned with his feelings, not hers. I hope he takes this to heart and treats her better in the future.
