Wood Look Wrap for your Laptop, a simple tutorial to turn your scratched and dented laptop into a fun and unique piece of work.

• Wood grain contact paper (found in most stores)
• Knife
• Scissors
• Tracing paper

So to begin with, go ahead and turn off your laptop and take out the battery so that you can work on it without worries.

If you have all kinds of debris on yours, like I had on mine, you can scrape it off and use a little adhesive to clean it again.

Step 1:

Now, unroll your contact paper and place your computer on top, with the grain the way you want it, then cut around it, leaving a large border on all sides (you'll cut this out later).

Now, you can decide what you would like to do about the logo on your cover.

I decided I wanted mine outlined, so I used a piece of tracing paper to trace the outline.

Then I placed it on the contact paper in the middle and cut it out with a knife (I used a piece of tape to hold it in place while I cut it out).

You can also cut out a big round window and use a bottle cap or anything that's nice and round.

Step 2:

After removing the backing, gently place it on your laptop, being careful to line up where your logo cutout is, and smooth out the contact paper.

Then, flip it over so that the top of your laptop is now on the floor and start trimming the edges.

I used my straight edge ruler and “looked” at it as best I could, trimming it if I needed to.

Then you simply fold it around the edges of your laptop.

If you don't have a round edge laptop, or you just don't want your cover to bleed.

You can also take measurements of the area you want to cover and cut it out before applying.

And if you want your corners to be rounded, a photo cutter would work perfectly!

Step 3:

I also decided to do the interior as well, since it was looking quite ramshackle:

I used pretty much the same type of process to make the interior as I used the exterior, tracing and cutting it out beforehand to get the correct size.
