Know How to Build a Low Arch Garden Bridge, you don't need a degree in engineering, carpentry or otherwise to be able to build a Bridge yourself, as long as you follow craftsman Joe's advice. Steps set for anyone at skill level. They are easy to read and follow.
Step 1: Determine a location for your bridge.
The base of the bridge must be on solid, dry ground. Measure your space and purchase materials.
Step 2: Materials
Materials:
- 2 Pressure Treated 2×12 Boards – 10′
- 2 Pressure Treated Boards 2×4 – 8′
- 10 Boards 2×6 – 8′
- 2 4×4 – 8′ boards
- 2 Boards 1×10 – 8′
- 6 – 4×4 Posts
- 3″ deck screws
- 3 1/2″ deck screws
Cut List:
- A – 2 pressure-treated 2×12 boards – 10′
- B – 4 Pressure Treated 2×4 Boards – 3′ 5″
- C -20 2×6 – 4′ boards
- D – 6 4×4 boards – 2′ 6″
- E – 2 Boards 2×10 – 8′
Step 3: Ends (length of the bridge)
Place a pair of concrete blocks at each end of the bridge location. Dig or build to make sure the blocks are level with each other.
Step 3: Connect the spokes to the spring blocks
.Place the spring blocks one length from the beam to the side. Attach the beams with metal straps.

Cut two 2×12’s – 10′ (A) as shown in the image above.
Step 4: Building the length of the bridge
Build railing posts for each side of the bridge, if desired. Carefully measure the height of the posts to ensure they are even. Set the gaps to ensure the railing is supportive and strong.

Cut four 2x4s 3′ 5″ long. Pre-drill holes and assemble as shown above. Screw the 3 1/2″ deck screws through (A) and into (B).
Step 6: Platform

Cut 20 2x6s to 4′ lengths (C). Cut a 45-degree bevel cut into the first and last 2x6. Assemble as shown, leaving a 2″ overhang on the sides.
Preferably it is 1/2″ – 3/4″. Pre-drill the holes and screw the 3 1/2″ deck screws through (C) and into (A).
Step 7: Poles

Cut six 4x4′s to 2′ 6″ long (D). Assemble as shown in the image above. Notch the 2x6 deck boards around the 4x4 post. Drill holes and install the 4x4s with 5 1/2" carriage bolts.

Cut two 1x10′ – 8′ (E) as shown in the image above.
Attach the handrail to the railing posts. Measure the proper height and mark each railing post with chalk as a visual guide, then firmly join each handrail section together.
Step 8:Finalization

Pre-drill and install the rails (E) using 3″ deck screws.
Use a sealant specifically for outdoor use to prevent moisture from ruining the wood and destroying your bridge.
