PVC Pipe Candy Canes for Garden Decoration, they are easy to make and with a little work and spray paint you will have some large canes to make your entrance a little sweeter.

Here's how to do it.

Step 1: Get PVC pipes and paint

• These candy canes are made from standard 3/4″ PVC pipe. If you want, you can opt for 1″ PVC or, with mineral work, something even larger.
• In the image are the PVC pipes cut to 5' in length. It is easily done by cutting the standard 10' length in half with a saw.
• Bring a saw to the hardware store and you can easily cut them down in the parking lot for easy transportation.
• You will also need some paint. I used Krylon® Fusion for plastics

Step 2: Bring the heat

The magic to bending pipe isn't any super strength, it's softening the PVC with a heat gun.

By heating the entire tube with the heat gun, you can easily bend it with your hands. Make sure you wear gloves!

Also, PVC is known to off-gas some nasty things when burned, so make sure you do this in a well-ventilated area AND wear a respirator.

Step 3: Clean and paint

With the tube bent, clean it with a little soap, water and dry it. You are now ready to apply the base coat of white paint.

Here, I used some white Krylon Fusion wraps.

Step 4: Mask the streaks

With the white paint completely dry you are ready to mask it. It is good to wait a total of 24 hours to make sure it is dry.

Then tear off some 1″ duct tape and wrap it around and around and around the entire pipe.

Step 5: Paint it red

Now you're ready for the final, colorful step, painting it red! Apply a couple of coats of red paint and you're done. For this I used Banner Red Krylon Dual paint.

Let the paint dry to the touch and you can peel off the tape.

You will want to wait 24 hours to make sure it is as strong as possible.

Step 6: Plant the candy canes!

For each candy cane, I laid a 2-foot piece of rebar on the ground, wrapped the end with some masking tape, and stuck the candy cane on top of it.
