Our Helpful review
I'm delighted that we opted for this model, which appears to be the best for homekit users. It's incredibly quiet; you can hardly tell it's running unless you actively listen while being in close proximity. The app is updated and seamlessly integrates with iPhone 15. In our dry and dusty environment, I've observed a significant reduction in the usual dust accumulation in my room. Previously, I had to dust at least once every other week, but with this unit, I've gone almost a full month without doing so.
The air quality seems much better now. We're pleased with the results. The app allows you to control everything even when you're not at home. Great quality at a fair price. There's a noticeable improvement in air quality almost immediately, and it's environmentally friendly, consuming very little electricity — another noteworthy plus.
2. GOVEELife Mini: Best price for Bedroom
The GoveeLife Mini Air Purifier for Bedrooms is a smart and compact solution for cleaner indoor air. With App and voice control through Alexa, Google Assistant, and IFTTT, you can easily manage power, modes, and timer settings. The dual-channel 360° air intake design ensures efficient purification for up to 376 sqft.

For automated purification, pair it with the GoveeLife Air Quality Monitor (sold separately). Enjoy fresh, fragrant air with this versatile air purifier.
Our Helpful review
I bought this small Govee air purifier for my bedroom, and I'm quite pleased with it. Unlike most air purifiers I've had before, this one is surprisingly quiet, especially in sleep mode. On the first day, I even had to check if it was running. The long power cord made it easy to find a suitable spot for it.
I also paired it with the Govee air monitoring device, which acts like a thermostat for air quality instead of temperature. It automatically adjusts the purifier to clean the air. The purifier comes with cool features like a space for essential oils, touch screen controls, timers, and a convenient all-in-one air filter.
3. BLUEAIR: Best for Large Room
Blueair introduces the Pure Max series, a top-performing air purifier line with enhanced HEPASilent performance—cleaning 83% faster with 50% less noise. Quiet Mark certified, it cleans XL spaces up to 1,524 sq ft swiftly. The HEPASilent dual filtration tech ensures efficient cleaning, removing 99.97% of particles like viruses and smoke.
Smart features include app control, air quality monitoring, geofencing, and Alexa compatibility. The user-friendly design includes an LED display, advanced pollution sensors, and customizable settings. For optimal performance, use Blueair's Genuine Replacement Filter designed for the Blue Pure 211i Max Air Purifier.
Our Helpful review
In February 2020, I acquired a total of 5 air purifiers— 2 units of the 211 and 3 units of the 411. Impressively, all 5 units with some operational for over 3 years with only brief shutdowns for cleaning, continue to function flawlessly.
Maintenance involves vacuuming the blue and/or gray pre-filter once a month using a furniture brush attachment. Despite being knocked over multiple times by pets and kids, the 411 units remain in good working order. The red filter change lights don't sync precisely, typically differing by about a week after approximately 6 months of use.
Strategically placed throughout our home in main rooms and bedrooms, these air purifiers have significantly reduced dust and allergy-related air issues. Operating quietly on low, moderately noisy on medium, and quite loud on high, we utilize the high setting during house cleaning. For regular use, we generally keep them on medium, reserving the low setting for nighttime use in bedrooms. My primary gripe is the relatively high cost of replacement filters every 6 months; however, the overall benefits justify the expense for our big family.

This is my first air purifier. My home is 1200 sq ft. Initially, I considered buying an air meter to check the air quality, but they were too expensive. After some research, I discovered that not all air purifiers are designed to effectively remove dust.
This one comes with a special HEPA filter, which effectively captures extra fine particles in the air. I find it working well—no elaborate setup required, I just glanced over the instructions and plugged it in. It's highly portable; I had it in my living room for about three weeks, and now it's in my bedroom.
5. HIMOX: Best for Pets

The washable filters are both eco-friendly and cost-effective in the long run. The HEPA 14 filter is a powerhouse, effectively capturing pet hair, allergies, dust, and smoke. We've observed a notable improvement in the air we breathe, and the device is pretty much totally silent.

Purchased one and enjoyed it so much that I bought a second. However, the second one produced clicking sounds when the fan rotated, possibly due to shipping. I returned it and ordered a third, which works as flawlessly as the first. These units are both attractive and highly functional, serving as both air cleaners and circulating fans—a convenient two-in-one.
Connecting to WIFI and setting up the software on my iPad was a breeze. I set them to automatic and haven't needed to adjust them since—placed one in the bedroom and the other in the living room. They operate quietly, effectively removing particulates when I use my 3D printer and eliminating cooking odors while keeping the air well-circulated. I highly recommend them; they cost only a third of the popular, expensive brand. The only additional feature I might have liked is Alexa compatibility.
7. NUWAVE OxyPure Zero: Best Value
The Nuwave OxyPure ZERO Smart Air Purifier is a cutting-edge solution for clean indoor air. Covering up to 2002 sq. ft., it efficiently purifies rooms by capturing 100% of airborne particles as small as 0.1 microns. Combat indoor pollution with this Energy Star certified device, operating at less than $10 annual electricity cost. The Ultimate Clean Mode offers maximum purification for added protection.
Our Helpful review
I really like NuWave and Shark products, and I chose this over the Shark for its never-change filter and larger coverage area. Setting it up from my porch, unboxing, and connecting to the app took less than 10 minutes, with half of that time spent removing plastic from four filters.
Initially, it showed green for good air quality, making me wonder if I wasted $400 or if it wasn't working, given my continuous airflow AC and good AC filters. To test, I brought in a lit cigarette from the garage (I don't smoke inside), and within seconds, it turned yellow, then orange, and finally red, kicking into high gear.
Venturing outside, it returned to green within 10 minutes. An accidental test occurred when I threw a dog bed in the washer, opened the garage door for a minute to grab detergent, filled the tank, put the detergent back in the garage, and closed the door. I heard the device ramp up. Though unintentional, having the garage door open for a minute was enough for it to sense air quality differences from the middle of the house. Seems like it works. In normal/auto mode, you can't even hear it running, and the app is also fun to explore.

How to Choose a Smart Air Purifier
With the growing popularity of smart home devices, air purifiers have also evolved to integrate smart features. These smart air purifiers offer a range of benefits, including remote control, real-time air quality monitoring, and automatic adjustments based on individual needs.
Here's a guide on how to choose the best smart air purifier for your home.
1. Consider Room Size
An air purifier's ability to effectively clean the air depends on its CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) rating. The CADR indicates the amount of air it can clean per minute. Select an air purifier with a CADR rating that is appropriate for the size of the room you want to clean.
2. Filter Efficiency
The heart of an air purifier is its filtration system. Look for air purifiers that use True HEPA filters, which can remove 99.97% of airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns. These filters are effective in capturing dust mites, mold spores, pet dander, and pollen.
3. Additional Filters
Consider adding activated carbon filters to remove odors and VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) that may be present in your home, especially if you have pets or use air fresheners. Some air purifiers also offer ionizers or ultraviolet (UV) lights to further enhance the cleaning process.
4. Noise Level
If you plan to use the air purifier at night or in bedrooms, consider the noise level. Some air purifiers can be quite noisy, especially on higher fan speeds. Opt for quieter models that offer multiple fan settings to accommodate different needs.
5. Smart Features
Smart air purifiers offer convenience and connectivity. Look for models with a mobile app that allows you to monitor air quality remotely, adjust settings, and receive alerts when the filter needs replacement. Some models even offer voice control compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.
6. Energy Efficiency
Energy Star certified air purifiers meet stringent energy efficiency standards, helping you save money on electricity bills. Choose models with auto-off timers and eco-friendly modes to further reduce energy consumption.
7. Maintenance and Replacement Filters
Regular filter replacement is essential for optimal performance. Consider the frequency of filter replacements and the cost of replacement filters when making your decision. Some brands offer extended-life filters or affordable subscription plans for filter replacement.
8. Budget
Smart air purifiers range in price depending on their features, size, and filter quality. Set a realistic budget and prioritize the features that matter most to you.
9. Reviews and Ratings
Research and read reviews from reputable sources to get insights into the performance, ease of use, and reliability of different air purifier brands and models.
10. If needed, consult with Experts
Seek advice from healthcare professionals or home appliance experts if you have specific concerns about air quality or allergies.
Best Smart Air Purifiers FAQ
What is the #1 air purifier?
There is no definitive answer to this question, as the best air purifier for you will depend on your individual needs and preferences. However, some of the top-rated air purifiers include the Coway Airmega 400S, Dyson Pure Cool HP07, and Levoit Core 400S.
What is the healthiest air purifier?
The healthiest air purifier for you will be one that is certified by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) to remove at least 99.97% of airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns. This standard is known as "True HEPA" filtration.
What air purifier do doctors recommend?
Many doctors recommend using a HEPA filter air purifier to help reduce the risk of allergies, asthma, and other respiratory problems. Some doctors also recommend using an air purifier that is able to remove formaldehyde, which is a colorless, odorless gas that can be emitted from furniture, carpets, and other household products.
What air purifier better than HEPA?
There are a few air purifiers that are considered to be better than HEPA filters, such as those that use activated carbon filters to remove gases and odors. However, HEPA filters are still considered to be the gold standard for air purifiers.
Is there a downside to air purifiers?
There are a few potential downsides to air purifiers, such as the fact that they can be noisy and that some models can be expensive. However, the benefits of air purifiers typically outweigh the drawbacks.
What to avoid when buying an air purifier?
Here are a few things to avoid when buying an air purifier:
- Buying an air purifier that does not have a high enough CADR rating. The CADR rating is a measure of how well an air purifier can remove certain types of pollutants from the air.
- Buying an air purifier that is not Energy Star certified. Energy Star certified air purifiers meet strict energy efficiency standards.
- Buying an air purifier that is not certified to remove formaldehyde. Formaldehyde is a colorless, odorless gas that can be emitted from furniture, carpets, and other household products.
Can one air purifier clean an entire house?
The size of the air purifier you need will depend on the size of your home. A small air purifier may be able to clean a small bedroom, while a larger air purifier may be needed for a larger home.
Are more expensive air purifiers better?
Not necessarily. There are some very affordable air purifiers that are just as effective as more expensive models. However, you may need to pay more for a air purifier that has more features, such as a built-in air quality sensor.
Is it better to have one or two air purifiers?
If you have a large home, it may be better to have two air purifiers. This will help to ensure that the air in all parts of your home is clean. However, if you have a smaller home, one air purifier may be sufficient.
What is the difference between an air purifier and a HEPA air purifier?
An air purifier is a device that removes pollutants from the air. A HEPA air purifier is a type of air purifier that uses a High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter to remove 99.97% of airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns.
