The so-called " one-pot pasta" method , which translates to " pasta cooked in a single pot ," was invented by American chef Martha Stewart a few years ago as a way to cook pasta quickly and easily. Today, this method is a trend.

It's no wonder this recipe is so popular, since this method saves us from having to cook the pasta separately and make the sauce separately, as the entire recipe is done in the same pot . Needless to say, this is quick and clean .

In the original recipe, all the ingredients are cooked from scratch. We've used this method, following the same principle, but we've adapted the recipe so the pasta is cooked al dente with a much more flavorful sauce . To achieve this, we lightly sautéed the sauce ingredients along with the tomato and added just enough water to cook the pasta perfectly.

In addition to the sauce we suggest for this dish, there are many others you could prepare, for example, using cream, béchamel, or sautéed vegetables. You can also change the type of pasta, which can be long, short, fresh, or filled.

But always remember that each type of pasta requires a specific cooking time , which you should check on the package. If necessary, adjust the amount of liquid, as the longer the cooking time, the more liquid you'll need.

How to make one pot pasta

To begin, choose a pot or pan that is large and deep enough to make the entire recipe. Start by adding 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 50g of bacon, 1 minced garlic clove, and 3 cleaned mushrooms, thinly sliced. Cook these ingredients for a couple of minutes over high heat with a little salt and freshly ground black pepper.

Add half a teaspoon of chili flakes. This ingredient is optional. If you don't like spicy food, you don't need to use it.

We added 200g of durum wheat pasta to the pan. In our case, we opted for pasta that needed 8 minutes of cooking time, although you can choose any other variety of durum wheat pasta, adjusting the recommended cooking times indicated on the package.
