Our Helpful review
I've owned several CO2 sensors, including 2 Awair Glow units, 1 first-generation Awair unit, 1 second-generation Awair unit, and a TIM10 CO2 sensor. While the TIM10 is my preferred sensor due to its accuracy, its drawback is the requirement for AC power. The Aranet4 caught my interest as a battery-powered CO2 sensor with app connectivity. However, it needed calibration out-of-the-box.
Comparing it to my reliable TIM10, the Aranet4 initially read about 75ppm higher. Despite the warning that calibration erases factory data, I calibrated it, verifying the results outdoors. Pre-calibration, Aranet4 reported 480ppm compared to TIM10's 380ppm. Post-calibration, Aranet4 aligned within 15ppm of TIM10, a success considering the low reading. Awair units, in contrast, bottom out at 400ppm.
In subsequent weeks, the Aranet4 consistently showed a 10-15ppm difference with TIM10, acceptable given Aranet4's battery power. The iOS app, while functional, lacks dark mode and experiences lag with increased data, which is not a big deal. The Aranet4's E-ink display is visually appealing, especially for travel. Its portability and accuracy post-calibration make it a valuable device.
2. AIRKNIGHT 9 in 1: Best for PM2.5 & Formaldehyde

This is all new to me, as I'm more accustomed to old-school methods like measuring temperature and humidity. The idea of measuring pollutants never crossed my mind until the Canadian wildfires blanketed NYC in smoke during summer 2023.
When I received the monitor, I was unsure how to interpret it, especially as the PM2.5 readings didn't align with airnow.gov. After some research, I learned that Airnow provides an "Air Quality" index, while the AirKnight displays the actual amounts of measured pollutants. Although the readings differed, they were essentially in sync, offering different perspectives. Initially puzzled by the AirKnight's rapid readings, I later appreciated its sensitivity to subtle changes in our indoor environment. The device detected a spike in PM2.5 when my wife cooked spicy food, highlighting its capability to identify changes before my nose did.
I also noticed high CO2 levels with closed windows and how quickly they decreased upon opening. The device's responsiveness impressed me. For newcomers, I recommend spending a few weeks with the device to understand its patterns. Despite initial confusion, the AirKnight proved reliable. Additionally, its solid construction and U.S. origin, coupled with prompt and clear support, enhanced my overall satisfaction.
3. GOVEELIFE Smart: Best Price & Value (detects mold)

Multifunctional Air Quality Detector: Measures three crucial indoor air quality indexes—PM2.5, temperature, and humidity—for comprehensive monitoring.
Switchable Display with LED Indicator: Easily toggle between clock & PM2.5 display modes. Long press for 2 seconds to activate bright screen or night mode. LED indicator reflects ambient air quality with four levels. Requires 2.4G Wi-Fi for time display.
Integration with GoveeHome Appliances: Set target air quality and sync with GoveeHome smart appliances. Air purifiers, humidifiers, and space heaters adjust automatically based on detected indoor air quality changes.
Free Data Storage & Export: Access remote monitoring via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, view 13-day data graphs online, and export data for the past 2 years. The monitor uses type-C cables and does not have a built-in battery.

I like my GV smart air quality monitor. The accuracy is remarkable—I've observed it respond promptly when I start vaping in a room. The readings spike from 00, despite all my air purifiers, to around 600 or 700. Gradually, as the air purifier does its job, the levels steadily decrease. The monitor effectively informs me about the airborne particles, providing valuable insights.
Additionally, it excels at displaying moisture levels, with easily visible and dimmable lights that auto-adjust at specified times. The device itself is solid and aesthetically pleasing, seamlessly blending into my space. Govee has crafted an exceptional product, and I'm considering getting another one for my workplace.

It takes a week to obtain Radon and CO2 readings, but they align with other sensors I own. The green/yellow/red alert lights seem set at reasonable levels. Monitoring air quality reveals insights about the home beyond health and comfort. I utilize these devices to track activities like running the furnace or air conditioner with open windows.
Before Airthings, I tried a slightly cheaper brand to replace an Awair. Unfortunately, it was defective out of the box, and the indicator settings were impractical. Awair, my previous choice, ceased support, prompting me to switch. Airthings, priced similarly to Awair, boasts better quality, more readings, and additional functionality.
Although the display could be improved for low-light readability, the touchless feature minimizes fingerprint residue. Despite rising prices in the air quality monitoring market, Airthings seems the best value, offering comprehensive insights.

My pulmonologist recommended getting hepa air purifiers for my allergies and asthma. While researching, I discovered a review mentioning an AQI (Air Quality Index) or monitor to test the purifier's effectiveness. I never knew such a device existed; I thought specialists with expensive equipment were needed. If I knew about AQI earlier, I would have bought one ages ago.
This device has four settings. Initially using the frequent testing (R) setting, I found it confusing due to wild swings. Opting for setting A, the Temtop AQI remains stable, and after a week, the battery is halfway. To validate accuracy, I observed AQI mostly in single digits, but smoking shot it to 80, revealing the impact. It made me reconsider my habits.
Regarding my car A.C., despite two visits to the mechanic after a $2k overhaul, it ran cool, not cold. On my third visit, they claimed 48 degrees, but I knew it was wrong. Carrying the AQI monitor on errands revealed the interior never dropped below 90 (Arizona's heat). I plan to show the evidence to the mechanic, proving their initial tests were incorrect. Kudos to TEMTOP for creating such a useful and affordable device.

So I got this air quality monitor, and it's pretty neat. It gives you all the lowdown on temperature, humidity, and CO2 levels, which is super useful. The display is crystal clear – big thumbs up from me. I actually stumbled upon it after watching a TikTok about air quality and how it can impact your health. And you know what? It lives up to the hype. It's a solid buy and does exactly what it says on the tin.
What I love is how easy it is to use. Charge it up, and you can put it anywhere you want. Plus, the user interface is cool, showing you a bunch of info all at once. Knowing the air quality at home is kind of a big deal, especially since we spend so much time indoors. This monitor not only tracks CO2 but also keeps an eye on TVOC and HCHO levels. The display is so clear that it's motivating me to crack open the windows more often for some fresh air.
The size is just right, and it's top-notch quality. It's become a must-have for me, especially with the upcoming move to a new place. We've got a 21-month-old, so making sure the air is good and safe for her is crucial. This monitor fits the bill – easy peasy.
